Catalyzing a Church Planting Movement in Chicagoland
A few years ago, we began asking what it might look like for God to unite like-minded churches across Chicagoland to spark a movement of reproducing disciples, leaders, churches, and networks. Partnering through NewThing's Reproducing Movements Catalyst (RMC), we dreamed big, shared tools, and held each other accountable to multiplication.
Today, the Chicagoland Movement has grown to 9 Networks led by local church leaders, all focused on church planting. Since 2019, we’ve collaborated on 62 church planting projects and are boldly praying to plant 100 churches by 2025! To support this vision, we’ve added two strategic roles: Relationships Catalyst, focused on building partnerships, and Reproducing Catalyst, focused on new church plants and networks. These additions have expanded our capacity to serve leaders and advance the mission.
One inspiring example of Kingdom collaboration is Ron Childers, being sent by the Compass Network from Chicago's Western Suburbs to plant a church on the South Side—a predominantly African American community. This step is significant for a historically segregated city, uniting suburban and urban churches for the greater good of Chicagoland.
Watch Ron’s powerful story and join us in praying for God to do even more through these leaders and churches!
